"How to clean car headlights. Car headlights clean very similarly to other glass items on a car windshields, windows, and the like. The one thing that you need to be concerned about is some car headlights are plastic, and so whatever chemical you are using to clean that headlight with it has to be safe for use on plastic. If you do indeed have plastic headlights. If you have glass headlights then it's less of an issue. Any glass cleaner or multi-surface cleaner will work well. And just like on a windshield you simply spray on some of the cleaner, and then using a paper towel or old news print or a rag you wipe off. And these headlights were particularly dirty, and so they might require additional application. You can see what's coming off of them. If the headlight is pitted they do make a headlight restoration kits that use a buffing pad that usually attaches to an electric drill and some sort of buffing compound, and that allows you to take the pitting out of most plastic lenses. If a glass lens is pitted, it is a little more difficult to buff out, but there are many professional services that can take care of that. Or alternately you can get a replacement lens to restore full lighting power on that particular headlight assembly."
