"The question is how to breed Chinchillas? The Chinchilla make up basically is you've got a buck whose the male, a doe whose the female and kits who are the young. Sexual maturity in Chinchillas is about 8 months of age. After that point, the female is spontaneous ovulator. The heat cycle itself last about 30-50 days so during that time if a buck is introduced and they copulate then pregnancy can ensue. Gestation period meaning how long it takes to have those kits is about a 111 days for Chinchillas. They have a litter size about 1-6 and when those kits are born, they take about 6-8 weeks before they are weaned and Chinchillas live about 10 years on average as far as their life span is concerned. So, breeding is typically something that you have to do, professionals are best left to do that but if you're interested in breeding, you check with a breeder and you see how they go about that. But generally, the buck is introduced slowly to the female and when the female is ovulating then she can become pregnant by the buck."
