"Well, skin tags are just little appendages of skin that can form in areas of high friction such as arm pits, groins, around necks where there's a lot of movement and/or contact with abrasive clothing. They can be removed by simple ligation at the base with a suture or small thread or some large joints may need to be surgically excised either by cartery or burning procedure or actual cutting and suturing inside. Skin tags were not associated with ingrown hairs. They, you can have anal skin tags that are associated with hemorrhoids and those usually need to be surgically removed and are chronic. It's just the chronic friction against the skin and the skin starts to grow at a more rapid rate and that one small spot makes a small area or appendage."
