Elegant Bedroom Decorating Ideas

"When you say the word "elegance", a lot of times, the first thing people's minds go to is a very traditional bedroom. My first challenge is that it doesn't necessarily always have to be the case. You can have a very modern bedroom that's very elegant. So if you want to create a very elegant bedroom, my first suggestions to the clients is that we kind of have to throw the budget out the window. To create an elegant bedroom, you have to be able to use the finest furniture, the finest, highest thread count on your duvet, the finest material for your window treatments. And we have to be able to pull all that together into creating a very inviting room because it's a bedroom, so you would want people to feel invited to sleep in it. But at the same time, you have to be able to spare all expenses and to really indulge in creating an elegant bedroom. With a traditional bedroom, a lot of times, you're incorporating antique furniture or furniture that's very detailed in the wood. You are creating lots of patterns on the duvet and between the sheets and between the window treatments, which oftentimes incorporates many different layers. They're very heavy. All of that, when you pull it all together, creates a very elegant bedroom. I believe that elegance is a person's opinion. And, you know, like my parents' opinion of elegance is walking into the Biltmore Estate and seeing, you know, huge curtains that flow to the floor and then huge bedspreads and huge canopy beds, and then goes back to, you know, versus me, someone who walks into a room at the W and the bed is down and they spared no expense when...with the duvet and the bright, red, plush carpet and so forth."
