"Anything from a small lamp to lamps under a cabinet, anything that softens or reduces the effect of harsh light in a room. I think they are very important. Often times people look to the main light fixture in a room or the main chandelier as the main light source, however, when you use a dimmer on that source and then you are able to add lighting in other ways maybe that display art work or a soft lighting that brings down the harshness and truly invites the person into the room. That's a way to use lighting effectively and kind of once again subconsciously. A lot of times when you walk into a room and it's very well lit you will not know all the sources that the light comes from. You know the huge piece of artwork and then that goes back to the focal point of your room, you would want to make sure that that is very well lit. Sometimes the fixtures can take away from what you're, what the intention is to do. So you can have a huge chandelier that takes, that all of a sudden that becomes the focal point when that was not the intentional focal point so it all depends on what you're main goal is. So I would say that you have to be very careful with accent lighting making sure that it doesn't become the main focus, if that's not the intended point and that you are reaching your objective of the lighting and it doesn't become your main focus."
