"When you go to some chapels here in Wilmington, historic chapels, with most of those you can bring in all of the decorations that you want. You can have an arbor, you can have a backdrop, you can have lights. You can do anything and everything in the windows, like with greenery and candles, if it's a nighttime wedding. If you're going to the beach, there's a different stage. Do you want to be the Roman goddess for the day and have the columns and the platform? Are you going to be casual and have the arbor with flowers and the colors, because the beach is gorgeous without a lot of help. It doesn't need a lot of help. Just with the ocean behind you, the sand dunes, and the sea grass, it's so picturesque. The only other thought would be a place that has absolutely nothing, and you want to make it your own, and you can do that, again, with flowers, with ferns, with palms, different kinds of containers, the color. You can decorate an isle with scented lantana, do the Chivary chairs -- you can pull that all together. Again, just chat with someone, look at pictures, look at pictures, look at pictures. Every venue should have a portfolio of weddings that they've had. The planners that do weddings, they're really busy on those days, and they really don't get to take too many pictures. But find out who the photographer is, and see if they can't help you build a portfolio so that you can provide that information for others as time goes by."
