"My name is Tim Cole, I'm the owner of Austin Reptile Service and we're here to answer the question, "What do Copperheads eat?" Well, Copperheads eat a variety of things depending on their size. Baby Copperheads will actually feed on some small insects including crickets, cicadas; they'll feed on small lizards, small frogs, small mice. One of the things that baby Copperheads has going for them is the tip of their tail is yellow or yellowish green and they use that tail tip as a lure to bring in food. So they'll take that tail tip and raise it up in the air and wiggle it real slow, looks like a worm or caterpillar and a lizard or frog will approach that and that's how they catch their food. As it become older and they become better hunters, they don't need that lure anymore and their diet will usually change in something more like larger lizards and larger rodents. So that covers of what Copperheads feed on."
