"Hi, my name's Kayti Brosnan. I'm a registered nurse here in Austin, Texas, and today, I'm going to talk about how you can treat yeast infections using yogurt. This is probably the most common form of acidophilus. It's extremely effective, and there's a couple of different ways that you can actually use yogurt to help with yeast infections. So the most common and the easiest way is to ingest it orally. So this is through a probiotic, like yogurt or milk, and you can take that once or twice a day. And so you're increasing the acidophilus in your body, which is going to help decrease the overproduction of yeast. Other ways that you can use yogurt is by dipping a tampon -- just a normal tampon, no deodorant -- you can dip a tampon in the yogurt and then insert it vaginally just like you would a normal tampon, and leave that in for a couple of hours, doing that two or three times a day. And this has proven to be really beneficial because the acidophilus is helping with the overproduction of yeast. Another thing that you can do is take yogurt, dilute it a little bit with water, and put it in an ice cube tray. Let it freeze overnight and insert it in the morning just like you would a tampon, but just inserting the tampon...inserting the ice cube. And this is introducing the acidophilus into the vagina as well as soothing and relieving some of the discomfort or the itching that you might be feeling with the yeast infection. So those are just some easy ways that you can use yogurt to help treat the infection with a yeast infection."
