"Hi, my name is Kayti Brosnan. I'm a registered nurse here in Austin, Texas and today I'm going to talk a little bit about curing yeast infections in men. So, the most common way that a man would get a yeast infection is by having intercourse unprotected or even sometimes protected with a woman who also has a yeast infection, whether she knows it or not. And this yeast attaches to the penis and the area around the penis and can cause a yeast infection. So, some of the ways to cure it are the same ways that you would a woman. You can use the over-the-counter creams, such as Monistat or Lotrimin and you can apply that to the affected area. So, where there's some blistering or there's a rash or itching, you can apply that for 7 to 10 days until the symptoms are resolved. You can also go the doctor's and get an order or a prescription of oral Diflucan, which is an antifungal. But you want to make sure if you are a man experiencing some sort of a yeast infection that, if you are having sexual intercourse with someone, that infection in your partner, in the woman, needs to be cleared up, otherwise you're going to be giving it back and forth. It's important that both people are cured of the yeast infection. And those are probably the most common and the most effective ways to cure a yeast infection in a man."
