Hi, my name is Kayti Brosnan. I'm a registered nurse here in Austin, Texas, and I'm going to talk about home remedies for treating vaginal yeast infections. There's a lot of really great home remedies that you can use. The first thing you can use is a probiotic, a form of a probiotic, which would be yogurt or milk. You can ingest this orally, which is going to help offset the decrease in bacteria, which is allowed for the increase in yeast infection. What yogurt has is lactobacillus acidophilus, and that's what going to kind of help fight that. You can also use the same form of probiotic, and take a regular tampon that is not deodorized and dip it in yogurt, and insert the yogurt-soaked tampon in your vagina like you would a regular tampon. You can keep that in for a couple of hours, and do this two or three times a day until you see relief of the symptoms, or you're cured from that current yeast infection. You can also use honey. What you do is you take a cup of honey, go into the bathroom, sit on the toilet, coat the affected area, all down there, let it sit for about 20 minutes, take a warm shower and then dry off really well. So you want to pat that area down. You can also use vinegar. You can use any kind of vinegar, but apple cider vinegar tends to work most effectively. You take a cup of vinegar, and put it in a warm bath, soak for about 20 minutes. You can do this in the morning and at night, and make sure when you get out of the bath, that you are drying off, especially the affected area, real well, because yeast is going to continue to produce in a warm, moist area. Another thing that you can do is use boric acid, which you can get over the counter, you can make your own capsules, have this on hand in your home, and insert that to kind of help with the pH and offset that imbalance that is going on. Those are some home remedies for treating a vaginal yeast infection.
