"Good afternoon my name is Tom Brintzenhofe, Certified Master Tech out of Reading, Pennsylvania and today I am going to talk a little bit about how much gas does your manual transmission save? That is a huge misconception that a lot of people have done throughout the years. You can look on your sticker on the windshield when you look around at new cars and you see highway mileage on manual transmissions is a little bit greater. It basically is all going to fall back and depend on your driving, your driving habits whether you like to fly down or pull out fast manual transmissions will save you a little gas mileages but you have to drive carefully. Driving 70 to 80 miles an hour down the highway obviously isn't going to help you none, pulling out fast is not going to help you none but if you drive responsibly, keep it right around the speed limit of 55 to 60 miles an hour but it will save you a little bit but typically not any more than 10 to 15 % but hopefully that will sum it up for you and maybe get rid of some of that misconception of manual transmission saving you some gas but that's basically hopefully that answers your question on how much gas is my manual transmission saving."
