How to Change Fuel Injectors

"Good afternoon, my name's Tom Brintzenhofe. Certified master tech out of Reading, PA. Today I'm going to talk to you a little bit about how to change fuel injectors. Your first step's going to be to make sure you have no fuel on the rail. So what you want to do is try to find your fuel pressure, your fuel pump fuse, pull it out, let the engine run until it dies. Your second step is going to be to remove your air box. I already have it unbolted here. So we'll just get this out of the way. Your second step's going to be removing your throttle body linkage here and the three bolts that hold it in and then flip this up and get it out of the way. Your third step will be to remove your four bolts in your fuel veil. Now once you have these four bolts out of the fuel veil what you want to do is get yourself a large screwdriver, and very gently pry back on this rail right here. You'll want to probably do this in three different spots, similar to right here. Try to pry against the intake manifold, not against any fuel injectors or anything plastic. They might break. But once you get this pretty much broke loose what you want to do is pull this rail, just a little bit, and then unhook each one of your fuel injectors. Once you get them all unhooked you can actually pull the rail out. Physically take one of your injectors off, replace it then put your rail back in. Put it all back together the same way you're taking it apart. It's really not that hard. The thing you really want to be careful of is the fuel that's in the rail. You want to make sure that's all out of there. Just be very careful when you take it off because when you pull the fuel injector out it's under pressure. So you're going to lose a little fuel. So just keep yourself, keep that in mind when you're taking it apart. Other than that it's fairly simple and good luck. And that's about how you change a fuel injector."
