Good afternoon my name is Tom Brintzenhofe, Certified Master Mechanic out of Reading, PA and today I'm going to talk a little bit about what is a CDL? A CDL is basically a commercial driver's license. The easiest way I can say if you are interested in getting a CDL is look around on the Internet and find some of the local schools. I know in the state of Pennsylvania we have All state career and driving center. There is a few other ones. I personally went to Allstate Career and Driving Center and obtained my CDL. The training course is usually about a month or two long, some of them actually go about a year and a half but all it basically is is that they train you on how to drive a semi tractor trailer. They can teach you how to get your double certification which is two trailers, a triple which is three. You can get your Hazmat to enable you to drive, haul chemicals, fuels, industrial supplies basically you can run tankers which basically they haul mill products and stuff like that out of farms but all commercial driver's license is is basically just a CDL and it is a special type of driver's license and it is pretty difficult to obtain but with the right dedication you can get it done.
