How to Get Rid of Ant Mounds

"Hi friends, I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida. And killing ant mounds is fairly easy. Number one, because you can see where they are. Once you've located the ant mounds and you determine that, primarily, these are probably red ants, or what we call here in Florida fire ant mounds, well, there's a couple of good products that you, as a homeowner, can go out and purchase. Number one is Amdro Fire Ant Killer. You can use that as a granular material. You apply it with either a hand held spreader or a regular lawn spreader, all the way around the yard. And normally you get about six months control. A professional product that we use here over at ABC Pest Control is called Top Choice Fire Ant Killer. Now, wherever the mounds are, even if they're small mounds that you haven't even seen yet or even if they're in a flower bed, Top Choice, once applied, it's a granule product, again. You apply it with this fertilizer spreader, all the way around the yard. Six weeks later, it takes about six weeks to activate, but the product is good for a full year. And that is the best way that you'll ever get rid of fire ants. You won't ever have to worry about them again. If those products seem to be too expensive for you, and you're a regular homeowner, mound applications, there's several products on the market that you can use mound applications just to get rid of the mounds.
