"You know, during an emergency, or a disaster, it would be critical to be prepared. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Have you ever wondered what it would take to make an emergency preparedness kit? An emergency preparedness kit, first and foremost, will be dictated by your immediate needs, and where you might predict an emergency to occur. Anywhere from a hurricane, to be lost at sea. After you determine where your emergency may occur, you would begin to build your emergency preparedness kit by first making a list of the supplies that will be needed according to your immediate needs. After your list, determine where you're going to store your kit. Something as simple as this cooler could be used in the trunk of a car, or even on a boat. It is dry, and it would float. It would also be able to house certain things that you're going to need in every emergency. Food, warmth, and possibly even emergency shelter will be needed. Along the lines of food, first and foremost, water, in the form of bottled water, or even bulk, like this gallon jug of water here, could be stored or used. If there's going to be water available at the emergency scene, or at the emergency site, tablets or drops that will purify water can be purchased and made part of the kit. Also, non-perishable food. Canned food that is non-perishable, as well as food that is dehydrated, freeze dried, or even meals ready to eat, or MRE's, as the military calls them. Along the lines of emergency shelter, something as simple as this plastic tarp could be included inside of your cooler, or what ever storage container you choose to use. This tarp could be used to build emergency shelter, or temporary bedding. I'm Captain Joe Bruni, draw up your list, and prepare your emergency kit based on your immediate needs. Stay safe."
