"Have you ever wondered during hurricane emergency situations, what type of hurricane emergency supplies would be needed? Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni and here in Florida, once a year, for approximately six to eight months, we have to be concerned about the hurricane season and what type of supplies will be needed. First and foremost, food and water would be at the top of the list. You would want to try to obtain enough food and water to last approximately three to seven days, calculating at least one gallon of water per person for every days use. Food, it would be a good idea to have dehydrated MRE's or some other type of food that can be stored as a non-perishable item for continued periods, again lasting three to seven days per person. Also, things like extra clothing, blankets and pillows, and possibly temporary shelter like tents and other camping materials would be good as a hurricane emergency supply list. Also special items such as medications, special needs for the elderly and for ins, infants should also be considered. It is very wise to also have some type of battery operated radio or flashlight and spare batteries to go with those appliances so you can keep track of news and weather conditions that are going to occur during and after a storm. Hurricane supplies could also include plastic bags, tools, and other types of devices that can be used to keep things dry and in storage for extended periods. Here in Florida, preparing for the hurricane season would be something Floridian would be wise to do. In this fashion, by being better prepared, we can make it through a storm and survive afterwards."
