"Medical alert bracelets. Actually, they're, they're, you can obtain medical alert bracelets at any local pharmacy or drugstore and to be completely honest, they've saved lives before and they will continue to do so for a long time. For the simple fact that, on arrival of EMS, if the patient is not conscious; if they're not breathing; if they don't have a pulse; if there's so many factors involve that can hinder our ability to understand or come to understand or, or obtain a sample history or history of that patient from family or from the patient him or herself; in the presence of a medical alert bracelet or necklace the most pertinent information can be found just within that item in itself such as allergies, pertinent medical histories such as diabetes mellitus, schizophrenia, if the patient has an active DNR order, all of the above plays a huge factor, a huge role and that's being able to sustain life as pre-hospital care emergency providers."
