"The symptomology basically varies depending on what type of seizure it is. There's several different types of seizures, usually pre hospital emergency care. We see petite mal and grand mal seizures, every once in a while we'll see a focal motor seizure. With focal motor seizures they're particular localized to one area of the body whether it be the arms, the upper extremities, lower extremities or isolated to various different parts of the body. Petite mal seizures are typically tonic- clonic type seizures that we usually see with the generalize shaking of the body from head to toe. It's usually followed by postictal period. And the same thing with grand mal seizures, although those are typically more violent type seizures than petite mal itself. Seizures include tremors, shaking, random ocular motor movement of the eyes. After the seizure activity's complete and the clonic phase, or I'm sorry the postictal phase, you usually see slurred speech or possible a completely unresponsive patient also followed by possibly slurred speech. Other symptomology can include hypoglycemia. Of course hypoglycemic seizure is usually induce by the hypoglycemia itself."
