Expressionist Portrait Painting: Mixing Colors

So you want to mix the color and let's start with the basic flesh tone just for argument sake here. We are going to get a good amount of white here, lay it down there. Cause we want to keep it clean, I'm going to wipe the knife off on a rag here. Afterwards get a little bit of yellow, a little bit of red, less red. Just like that much, a little bit of this maroon. And a shake them all together and mix them. This palette surface is wood so it slightly porous but it's also nice and smooth. So you mix them all together, on this area. Take the edge here, scrape off and just pick it right up again and put it back in there. And as you go you'll see your color develop. It take a while to mix the color thoroughly. And get rid of all the other traces, that are hanging out on the parameter. But eventually you'll have it and sort of a nice very rosy flesh tone that you can start using.
