In this series we are going to start painting from a live model in ploy of a cavalier farce that we have accumulated here and using all the tools at our disposal. We will start painting directly on the canvas beginning with brushes doing an under painting and then doing sort of a line drawing of the figure and establishing basic composition and then we'll start developing the painting from there. So the first thing you want to do is lay out a palate which we'll discuss, choose your colors and make sure you have all your tools clean and ready to go. Start making those first marks that are so important and one thing I want to stress throughout the process is that you can't really make a mistake unless you are being too inhibited or too precious about what you are doing so it is better to muddle things up and give yourself something to work with. You are not going to start laying down a perfect painting and there is never a good point to say that it is finished unless you have your goals in mind and you have met those goals in your painting so we'll talk about all that during this series.
