"Hi, I'm Kim with Simply Beautiful in Austin, Texas. Let's talk a little bit about how to pick the right lighting for make-up application. It's really important for you to be able to see everything that you are putting on really clearly. I'm not going to underestimate the importance of a lot of light, but it has to be soft lighting. You don't want to see any shadows on your face. So a soft muted lighting. Make-up mirrors are great, especially the magnified ones if you're having a little bit of difficulty seeing, but make sure the mirror's big enough so you can see your entire face. If you use a softer, darker lighting, you're going to end up putting on too much make-up. If you use a bright light, it's going to be more like daytime make-up and you'll have a more honest picture of what you are doing. So that's how you pick the right lighting for make-up application."
