"Did you know you can charge your iPod from just about any USB port using the included sync cable? I'm Dan Afonso of Afonso consulting and Enfold IT. This is, how to sync an iPod with Vista. I'm assuming for the purposes of this demonstration. You've already installed iTunes and put some music on it. Now if you haven't, you're going to go over to Apple iTunes at iTunes.com. It's a fast way to get it. And just can have the download link right there. Click on it and hit download. Once you get that, you're going to need your iPod and the sync cable that came with it. First of, we're going to take the USB port and plug it into your computer. Such, now we're going to take the port that goes into the iPod. With a little symbol, up. And we're going to plug that into the bottom of the iPod. Your hard drive will then start going nuts. The first time you do this, give you some messages. Especially if this iPod has been used with other versions of iTunes. It's going to ask you, whether or not you want to transfer downloaded music. If you want to erase from sync and what not. Choose the available options. But if you don't chose erase and sync, it will not copy your music from one to the other. Except for the stuff that you paid for in iTunes. So over here, it's telling me that I have, I have some. A software update available for this iPod. I don't really feel like, I'll defer taking care of it right now. So I'm just going to cancel. And right now, it's showing me it's syncing. And when it's done, just say, iPod sync, done. Great, so let's take a look at some of the options we can do. Now over here, we've got the iPod and we can change some stuff on here. We have music that's on there. We have any movies, I don't have any. TV shows, podcasts, that sort of thing. There are a couple things. And some playlists. So if you want to put music on there, you can add stuff. Or we can go to the main iPod page over here. And we can change some things around. Under music we can say, what we want to sync. Now I'm telling it to sync all music. But you could tell it just use certain playlists. A quick tip I found, is that I make a playlist. The smart playlist that has only stuff with four stars or above. I'll like it playing good music. And I can put that in it's own playlist. when I don't feel like waiting through you know, 30 gigs of garbage. I can just listen to the best stuff by using that playlist. Otherwise, you can use things to make the nineties playlists and what not. If you, if a song is a multiple playlist, only it gets once. So don't worry about putting stuff in multiple playlists. Movies, the same thing. You can tell which movies to do. Whether or not to do movies and what not. If you have a more recent iPod or an iPhone, you can sync contacts, calendars and all that good stuff. I'm Dan Afonso, enjoy."
