"Sometimes the best way to get a book published, even if you're a youngster, is by starting out writing for your local newspaper. You find a subject that you enjoy writing about, contact them, and ask if you can write for them, that way you get a byline in a local newspaper and create a following. Once you've written several stories, then you can approach people about backing you to get your book published. Whether it's a young people's book, a children's book, an illustrated book, or just a book of stories, start with your local newspaper and get a following. That's usually the best way, and then you can get self published books, or you can contact people about traditional publishing. If you go the traditional publishing route, you're going to need to have an agent. There are books at your local library that tell you how to get an agent so that you can contact your traditional publishing companies. If you choose to self publish your book, there are also lots of self publishing companies out there, and your parents can help you pull all that together and get all your information. Good luck, and have fun writing."
