"Hi, my name is Jill Weiss. I'm going to tell you a little bit about how to pay attention to a beginner soccer player, a young athlete. The main thing is in soccer, you're going to run a lot. You want to make sure, I mean a young athlete, a beginner should at least be able to jog, be able to run. You also want to pay attention to their hand, eye coordination, the way that they transfer their weight. They should be able to run forward, run backwards, run side to side, things like that. You also want to pay attention. A beginner will usually, they will start out walking with the ball, and then they will actually go into a jog, things like that. Balance, balance is a good one to pay attention to, whether even they can stand on one foot. A good drill to actually do to help with balance, have the athletes take their ball, and put it between their knees, and hold it, or put it between their ankles, and hold it. Those are very basic for a beginner, that they should be able to do, balance, hand eye coordination, running forward, backwards, sideways, so those are just little basic tips and drills that you can do, for knowing how to see if your athlete is a beginner soccer player."
