"We are going to talk very quickly about basic hermit crab care and how to feed your hermit crab. Once you have your hermit crab set up and all taken care of and put together, what you want to do on a daily basis is you are going to make sure that you change their water, they have to have fresh water daily and to make sure that you are changing that and it is not building up any bacteria in there. You also need to make sure that you are changing their food regularly because this also will build up bacteria and possibly attract fruit flies or mites and things like that. Also what we need to do on a daily basis is mist the terrarium, here is my mister, sorry couldn't find my mister. So basically every morning be sure to spritz it down and what you are doing here is just raising the relative humidity in the terrarium and that helps them breath because actually hermit crabs while they are land dwelling creatures use a modified gill to breath and in order for that to work it has to be moist. So just mist it down a little bit. You don't have to go crazy, you don't want to drench it but just a little bit of moisture on the sides of the enclosure and get everything on top a little bit wet. Of course we have thrown out the old food so it is time to put the new food in. There are various types of hermit crab foods you can choose from, everything from jellies to crumbles to dog food like material. You can rotate through that all you want, they may like some kinds and not like others. Every hermit crab is different. You can also add in very small moderations table scraps like fresh fruits and vegetables and small pieces of cooked meat, preferably fish but maybe beef or other meats as well. Make sure you keep that as a treat and don't overdo it."
