"Today we're going to be talking about how to make stumpy fingers look longer, and as you can see today my model and myself both have shorter fingers and we tend to like them not look so short, it's just not an attractive look. The best way to do this is to avoid filing the nails in a very, very square fashion. If you want to go with a square shape, which sometimes is stronger, make a square-round shape, so round the edges of the nail. Oval is really the best shape to use for a stumpy finger. And when you're polishing these nails it does help to keep them polished to make the nails look longer, but avoid using very, very dark, heavy polish or avoid using something that's very bright in nature that's going to draw strong attention to the ends and tips of your fingers, because what happens is it really kind of punctuates the fingertips and draws attention to the lack of length of the fingers. Another really good way to not make them look stumpy is to push the cuticle back. If you push the cuticle back it does elongate the look of the nail bed and that will oftentimes help in that as well. Another thing that you can do which is kind of an old fashioned trick that used to be used quite a bit and I haven't seen people do it in years, but instead of painting all the way to the sidewall when you're applying polish to these types of nails, actually leave about an eighth of an inch open on each side of the nail so when putting the polish on, just going kind of down the center and a little bit on the sides and leaving a little bit on the sides, it makes the nail look skinnier and it makes the whole finger elongate, kind of an optical illusion. And that's about the best we can do for those."
