"In this clip we are going to talk about designing a logo for a business card. There are three main things that you need to think about when designing a logo for a business card. First of all is the size. The size of your logo, your logo has to be able to work reduced down to a business card size so you need to think about that your logo is not too detailed, that it doesn't have too many fine lines, that once it is reduced it will get lost, that people can still tell what it is at a small size. Those are really important issues. The next thing is the number of colors. You want to make sure that you are not producing a logo that can only work in full color like if it involves a rainbow and you don't have the money to print full color business cards but the only way that you are going to be able to read it is in full color then you've got a problem so you want to make sure that if your logo has to be two certain colors or anything like that that you are very careful about calling out what those colors are when you reproduce your business cards and knowing that you can afford the printing of whatever your logo design is. The last thing is to make sure that the logo is representative of the business and I see a lot of times clients have cards that they need help they want to redesign and they show me just what they've been working with and the logo just isn't what the company is about. It is some stock clip art that they have gotten or it is something that they feel is really cool or maybe it is like some matrix image or infinity and they feel like it's really great but it really doesn't tell anyone about the business, it doesn't tell anyone what they do or tell them about how their business is going to be better than the next guy's. So the three things that you need to think about are size, color and making sure that your logo is representative of your business."
