"Okay, so we want to teach our dog to stop and wait and not follow us. If I don't say anything and I start walking, she's going to follow me, as you can see. And if I just walk around, especially if I start moving quicker, she's definitely going to follow me. So what you have to do is to explain to the dog what you want it to do. Pima, sit. And, as I say stay, I'm going to move my hand in front of her, which she's going to start to associate with "stay", stay. Stay. And I should be able to walk away, and continue making eye contact with the dog, and she should stay until I tell her, Come on! And then she happened to pick up the nearest toy and bring it over to me. So let's try it again. Sit. Pima, sit. Stay. Stay. And even if I turn my back she should stay. And should not to follow me. And I'll move out of the camera's view. And she's staying until I say, Come on! And she picks up her nearest toy and brings it over to me. Now, eventually you should be able to get the dog to stay just by telling her...sit. Sit. And, our hand signal that we've associated. And if I start walking, she's standing up, which isn't great, but she's waiting...Come on!...until I say to come back over and she picks up her ball."
