"Hi, I'm Veronica Baragas with mywigglesandgiggles.com and I'm going to share with you how to become a babysitter. You know usually you can start as early as fourteen, fifteen, babysitting for family and friends which is how I got started. I just had a close family friend ask if I wanted to take care of the two little kids, and I actually really enjoyed it so I would definitely kind of do some research, see if it's something that you are interested in, try it out a few times, and if it's something that you're really wanting to do, I would take the steps of getting CPR and first aid certified, you could start by advertising in your local neighborhood association. Hand outs, you can spread the word through family and friends. That's usually the best way to get your start and experience going. So maybe do a little bit of reading, kind of learn the basics of childcare handling, you know, how to handle situations when you're alone. Get familiar with your emergency numbers, and just talk to your parents and the parents that you're looking to babysit for. And I would definitely get some structures down on how much you want to charge, what the area is like, so kind of get a little resume together maybe even if it's very small. And just kind of take it from there. Make sure you have your CPR and first aid certified, that's definitely important. And do a little bit of reading and research before you start. That way you're comfortable enough and have some background knowledge of what it is that you're doing, 'cause confidence is key and like I said, just post in your neighborhood association or through family and friends, those are the best ways to get your references down and things like that, so, if you wanted to become a babysitter, that's how I would start."
