"If you're like most students in the dorm, you're wanting to catch a few extra minutes of sleep in the morning. So you probably want some fast and easy, grab and go breakfast. Hi. I'm Alexa Sparkman, and today I'm going to show you how to make breakfast fast. First of all, let's talk about the breakfast cereals. We've always got those times in the morning when we want something quick and easy. Grab a bowl of cereal. And in the dorm room, sometimes having fresh, cold milk is a problem. With the hermetically sealed milks, this isn't always the case. These are shelf stable and can stay up to a year without refrigeration. Of course, once you open it, you want to keep it in your dorm refrigerator. We can also have hot oatmeal in the morning, and there are two different ways to have your oatmeal. You can buy the containers. All you have to do is add hot water. There's no mess. You throw away the bowl when you're finished. Of course, if you like a variety of different flavors, you can always get the mixed variety packets. Now these require a microwave safe bowl. You add water and cook in the microwave for about two minutes. Another definite grab and go idea is to use peanut butter and natural fruit jelly. The peanut butter can be spread on whole grain bread, or you can put it between two frozen waffles. A fast, easy breakfast, and you're ready to go. If you're hungry for a little meat in the morning, there are plenty of soy-based, heart healthy sausage links and patties ready to pop in the microwave. Wrap in a slice of bread, and off you go to class. For a quick pick me up in the morning, there are many kinds of fresh fruit juices and smoothies that have a variety of vegetable and fruit juices to give you the anti-oxidants you need for a heart healthy meal. It's always easy to grab a piece of fruit as you run out the door. If you'll think about keeping fruit on hand to last about four days. Remember, you're not required to buy all the fruit that's in the bunch of bananas. You're not required to buy more than one apple or that whole bag full of grapes. Take what you need and what you can eat in about four days. And that's how you make grab and go dorm room breakfasts. I'm Alexa Sparkman. Until next time."
