"Have you ever considered cooking pasta and rice in the microwave? Most of the rice is pretty easy. Some of us may never have considered cooking pasta. Hi, I'm Alexa Sparkman and today we're going to talk about cooking pasta in the dorm room. First of all, let's start with the easy one, rice. There are plenty of packaged rice alternatives that you heat, eat and toss the package away. No mess, no fuss, no clean up. To make things a little more complicated, the next step up would be the ramen noodle. It's pretty easy though. First thing you need to take a microwave container, boil your water and then add your ramen noodles. Cook the noodles on fifty percent power for about three more minutes and the noodles are ready to go. If you want to add the spice pack, stir it in at the end. The noodles are ready to eat. A little more heart health consideration, try leaving out about half the spices in the spice pack. Now to cook real pasta add a little bit of salt and a little bit of olive oil to your cooking water, bring it to a boil remove the container from the microwave, add the amount of pasta you want to eat, put the pasta and the container back in the microwave, reduce power to fifty percent and depending on the type of pasta, you'll need to cook it from five to fifteen minutes longer. You'll know it's done if you'll test it every few minutes. And when it's the right consistency take it out of the microwave, drain it and add your favorite pasta sauce. It's that simple. I'm Alexa Sparkman, until next time."
