"Hi I'm Linda Wooldridge and I'm a homeschool mom. You know if you are homsechooling your kindergartener you might be asking how do I do that? What do I do with this little person? First of all take a breath, this is kindergarten, this is learning your letters, learning your numbers, learning your shapes and colors. O'kay maybe your child is a little bit beyond that already but you've got to admit it is not college level calculus either. First of all get yourself some really fun exciting materials to use with your child and only use them during the school day because if you leave them out as play toys they won't be interesting after the first week. Here are a couple of resources that you can try. This is a program called Ready Writer and what you do is trace the shapes to practice your pen techniques. When your child can follow these shapes without too much difficulty then as the name says they are ready to start writing. Don't forget to have lots of paper and markers and fun things like that and save those drawings. Do your basic math and don't forget about those great opportunities out there. How many cans are on the shelf? How many pigs are there in that picture? Can you read this word? All of those things add up to a great kindergarten year and you didn't even spend a dime yet. There are curricula out there should you want something a little more concrete but otherwise go to your library, spend lots of time writing and coloring and reading and have a great kindergarten year. You'll be ready for first grade in no time. I'm Linda Wooldridge. Have a great homeschooling day."
