"The topic today is applying for grants for a woman owned business. The first thing that I would caution is to find out what your state or local entity requires for certification as a women or minority owned business. And the reason I lump that is, in our state, it is a combined certification. It is a, and there are multiple designations you can have. For us, it would be woman and minority owned business, or woman owned business. You may also qualify for a disabled business enterprise, just by being a woman owned business. And, you want to go through those certification process, processes, before you apply for the grants because they are going to ask for your certification number. The U.S. Department of Transportation is one of the entities that certifies. Our particular state certifies at the state department level of transportation. I know that our state capitol, that municipality certifies, and that certification is good for both the state and the federal level as well. And those certifications just give you an additional feather in the cap of the granter that you're feeding. Some sites that you could go to, the grant university, grant today, unclesamsmoney.com, of course, your state's department of commerce, and any other grant site that you're aware of that might give women the opportunity, the eligibility for application."
