"I'm Linda McDow, I'm the event sales manager for the Nimitz Event Center here in the Nimitz Museum right off of Main Street and 87. One of the oldest structures in the historic town of Fredericksburg. This ballroom that we're in today is part of the history of this hotel which Admiral Nimitz' grandfather bought in 1855 as the saloon, one story long saloon, and built to its grandeur in 1880 in this ballroom. People have had receptions and weddings and parties and balls and dances all these years, all throughout the twentieth century, and now as we go into the new century, the renovation that took place within the last two or three years brought this beautiful building back to its historic 1880s look. Of the six or seven historic ballrooms in the state of Texas, this is the second oldest, probably a little known fact to people. Very much a hidden treasure in the state of Texas. The most visited and scheduled for weddings, destination weddings in the hill country, very beautiful, beautiful grounds outdoors, also for meetings and certainly worth stopping by to see such a historic beautiful ballroom."
