For centuries man has had a quest for gold. Hi, I'm Rui and today we're going to talk about buying gold coins. Many countries around the world now use gold coins for trading as well as collecting purposes. And probably the most famous of all came about in the nineteen seventies when South Africa had the Krugerrand. It was probably the prime gold coin used for trade throughout the planet, until the nineteen eighties when economic sanctions pretty much put a clamp on South Africa and the Krugerrand. Once that happened other nations like Australia and Austria also started producing gold coins for trade and collecting purposes. For antique coin collectors or people who like really really rare old gold coins, mostly the European coins from the eighteen hundreds are the most popular to collect. From France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, those look to be probably the rarest and the most valuable when it comes to collecting gold coins. The most important thing is when you're looking to buy gold coins, is to decide which country, which style that you want, but also to make sure that you purchase your coins from a reputable dealer. It's easy to counterfeit gold coins, for the most part, especially the older more valuable coins. So make sure you go to a reputable antique store, coin shop and make sure they have a return policy.
