"Hi, I'm Natanya Nielsen from Saratoga Springs talking about crochet basics. Today we're going to do the popcorn stitch. To do the popcorn stitch, you utilize again your double crochet stitch. We will do five double crochets in one space, all in the same one. At this point, this is where this stitch differs from all others. You will actually take your hook out of your stitch. Then you'll come back to the very first stitch that you made, in the top, and put your hook through there. Then you grab this stitch again, put your yarn over top, and pull it through both of those stitches. This makes your popcorn. You push your finger up through that, and it makes a little puff on the top. From here, you can continue across your project with a few double crochets, and then, again, we can do another popcorn, and you'll be able to see how they pop out of your project. So again, we're going to do five double crochets in this one space, right here. Again, we're going to pull our hook out. Come back to our first stitch. Put the hook through the top. Hook back into the loop we let go. Yarn over our hook, pull through two loops. And you can see how those just pop right out."
