"Hi, I'm Natanya Nielsen from Saratoga Springs, Utah. We're talking about crochet basics. Today we're going to talk about the double crochet. To make a double crochet in your project at the point where you're ready to turn your row, you will chain three. This chain three, as you turn your project, becomes your first double crochet for that row. If you'll notice, you have a hole right here, from your previous row of stitches. That's where your hook will go in. The first thing you do is wrap your yarn around your hook. Then with two loops on your hook, you will run your hook through the hole that you created, and pull up another loop, and pull it through the first loop on your hook. Then you will wrap your yarn around, come through the first two loops, wrap your yarn again, and come through the last two loops. We're going to do that one more time. You're going to wrap your yarn around so you have two loops on your hook. I like to hold mine with my fingers so they don't slip off. Then I will go back through my project in that hole, grab a loop, and pull that up. Then I will wrap my yarn around again, pull it through the first two loops, and again wrap my yarn around and pull it through the two remaining loops on my hook. That is a double crochet."
