"Hi, my name is Natanya Nielsen. I live in Saratoga Springs. We're talking about crochet basics, and today we're talking about how to turn a chain as you begin your project. We're going to start with just a few chain stitches. A chain stitch you would actually make as long as your pattern tells you to make it, depending on what you are....your plan is. When you get to the end of your chain stitch, you will come back and build on this chain. This is the foundation of every crochet project. Every project starts with a chain, no matter how long it could be. Hundreds of stitches, it could be three stitches, but that is how every project starts. When you come back into your chain, you will go through your stitch that you've previously made. You will have two threads on top of your crochet hook, and on the back you will have one. At this point, you hook your yarn around your hook and pull it through those two stitches. And then you will make your first stitch. As you go, you will continue to do the same thing, go through the next one and pull up your yarn, and continue your next stitch. And this will finish out your pattern and finish out the project for that row."
