"Hi, I'm Steve Laird. I've been a recording engineer for about twenty years. I've been working with Greg Hansen most of that time in...in various facilities. And over the last decade or so, we've been working in my own facility. We have recently started our own record label called Eagle Springs Records, which has been rolling for the last couple of years, and have added several artists featuring positive music artists and various genres. We're...we're talking about building your own recording studio. There are many aspects to building your own recording studio. There's the acoustics of your room. There is also the layout of your room to consider. The kind of equipment you'll be recording to, as well as the kind of microphones that you'll be using. One of the first things you want to consider when you're building your studio is the layout. What...what kind of space do you have to work with, and making it comfortable environment to work in so that you can easily access everything that you're working with. The second, next consideration once you've done that is....is creating an acoustic environment so that you can hear the speakers clearly without getting problems from the walls surrounding you, interfering with the quality of your sound. And then the next aspect of your looking at would be your input devices. Whether you're going to use Mac or PC, whether you want to use what kind of recording mediums. Whether it's Pro Tools, or many others, such as Digital Performer or Q-Base. You can also...and then you need to look at kind of microphones that you are using in the other room, and what kind of music you'll be recording."
