"Hi, I'm Greg Hansen. I've been a record producer for thirty five years, and we're talking about how to start out becoming a record producer. You don't actually start out doing that, but you can...you can have that as a goal and work your way up to that. Let's say you went to a great school, a great music school like Berkley or somewhere like that where you get real hands-on experience working with other students and other artists. A school that has a good track record of putting people out in the professional industry. And then you don't just come out the door being a producer. You work your way up into that. You get credits on good projects. You get connected with people who are doing things in the industry, and you are good at your craft. So people will refer you to other....other producers and clients so you can work your way up and become one yourself. And, it's really your track record in the industry and the skills that you bring with you that will make or break your career as a record producer. But you can start out with that goal, get the education and skills you need, and build it to the point where you're able to have a good command of all the aspects of being a producer."
