"Hi welcome everybody. My name is Lars Erik Robinson and my company name is Lars Arts, All Around Art-tainment is my slogan. Anyway today what we are going to talk about is how you create a portfolio as an artist. There is a lot of different ways to do portfolios and one of the most famous ones that I can't demonstrate right here right now but is to have your art work on the computer, get it on the world wide web. There is a lot of other hosting programs out there that you can use or you can create your own website and get your own domain. One of the ways that I learned when I graduated school was to create yourself these 4 X 5 transparencies that I put up in the light and you can see art work that way. So if you put it up against the light you will see it but here it looks dark. This is one of the professional ways if you are actually going to a client and you want to show some of your work on a light table. Another way is to have a condensed version of all your work, all your different types of work and I've been doing it for a while, 15 years and it adds up. Have your resume handy. That is always very important. Have a flier nearby that you can hand to our client. Then have your portfolio showing all the different ways, showing your caricatures, showing all the steps that you go through and have it tabbed for the different kind of work, fine art, illustrations, then have a tab for your murals and signs for example. Then finally maybe at the end showing all your different sketches, showing people your different sketches. One of my most current ones that I am working on right now is actually putting things in different categories. I want to have all my graphic design in one book and have all my illustrations and stuff in another book. Another thing last to the end to let you know about is having a portfolio of all your clients is very important too. Have all your cards together for all of your clients. Create your own cover heads, you have got to have your own cover heads and you have got to have a standard logo that you could use. So that is all the ways of making a portfolio. I hope that gives you a little bit more understanding of what we go through as an artist to be able to create our portfolios. Thank you so much."
