You'll first want to dab a little bit of the solution, on to the cloth, and if you're talking about cleaning a canvas shoe, you don't want to apply the solution to the shoe. You would want to apply it to the cloth, so that you're not saturating the shoe, and you want to just dab whatever the place, you're trying to clean the shoe. Just dab it gently. You don't want to scrub, because scrubbing will embed the dirt into the shoe, and just keep dabbing until you see that the stain or the dirt, has been removed. You also want to pay attention to the sole. You want to take the cloth, kind of gently rub around the sole, to get rid of any dirt or grime build up on the shoe.
