Video Transcript

"Hi my name is Athena Reich and I'm a singer, songwriter and music host here in New York City. In this clip I'm going to talk about the notes on a piano keyboard. If you look down here, you'll notice that there are white keys and black keys and they are grouped in, the black keys are grouped in groups of three, two, three, two, three and it goes on like that. If you find the middle of the keyboard and you find the two, usually near the brand name of the piano, you find the two black keys in the middle, and if you go to the left, that is C, that's middle C, that's the middle of the piano. Now going to the right is up, think of right as up because the notes get higher up in the sky, they sound high. So this is C, what's next in the alphabet, D, E, F, G. Now the musical alphabet only goes up to G and then it starts over again. A,B,C,D, E, F, G; A,B,C,D, etc. So if you're here how do you go backwards, well, just go backwards in the alphabet. C, B, A, G, F, E, C, D, etcetera, etcetera. This has been Athena Reich from New York City."
