"A travel by train, is the best way to see Italy. Your trip from Venice to Rome, will take long. Around four and a half hours, are the quickest, so bring a book, and a pillow with you on a train, and settle in, have a good journey. Leave from the Venezia Maestro Station on the mainland. It's smaller, and used usually for quick stops. Depart from the Venezia Santa Lucia Station in the city itself. Beware of where to check your luggage. The baggage check and the baggage claim are often the same. Purchase train tickets on line at Train Italia. Tickets bought through this website can be retrieved from any counter, at any Italian main train station. All you need is a booking reference. Choose your start, Italia ES, for an expedient, comfortable ride. Reservations here, are required. Don't forget this. Request Inter-City for a comfortable ride on a train, that reaches both small and large cities on it's way. Ride Inter-City Plus, if you want all the accommodations of Inter-City, on a newer, modernized interior. Choose your class, First or Second. Whether one way ticket to Rome, or round trip ticket back to Venice, choose your ticket. Specify whether you are traveling alone or with a group."
