"With deep tissue massage it is not so much deeper pressure as it is allowing my fingers to slow down and sink into the deeper muscle tissues, the deeper muscle layers. So I can use my fingers to do this, sink in, always checking in about pressure. How's this pressure? I can use my thumbs and I can also use my elbow. Again it is not so much about how much pressure I use but about sinking in and allowing my body weight to sink in. There is also the balance of having enough lotion so that you have a glide but not too much so that you don't have control. In using your elbows you always want to know where you are, where the bony surfaces are and have a guiding hand so that you don't roll over the spine."
