"This is Eric Stearns with Expert Village. We're discussing fire safety and proper construction of a fire. Next I'm going to show fire construction, and lighting a fire with a hurricane match. This is....we're going...first we're going to take the tinder and put it down similar to any fire that you would construct. And we'll take a little bit of kindling, build it up around the sides so that the fire has something to feed on when it's....when it's...when it's lit, when it's starting. So that it has something to eat. Leaving enough space for it to breathe, so that it doesn't suffocate and go out. That's very important. We're doing kind of a little, mini, lattice-work fire here and this is a nice way to set a fire, 'cause it'll...it'll go up pretty quickly without much effort. So this basically allows us to....hopefully it'll light up without much effort, because we've stacked our wood and given it some fuel. So what we're going to do now is we're going to take our hurricane match, which is a slightly different kind of match than what you standard....what you will see...standard wise, in a store. It's coated with more chemicals, it's also water-resistant, and it burns in very high winds and under really inclement weather. So, what we'll do is, we'll strike it. And this will give us an opportunity to see how long it burns and how....and how easy it is to....and hopefully how easy it is to start the fire with. And there we have our fire. Catches very quickly, burns everything, and starts right away. Immediate heat, immediate light, no problem."
