"Hi, my name's Pam Nichols. I'm with www.utahanimalcare.com. I want to talk to you today about picking a dog that will not make your allergies worse. There's just a couple of guidelines for picking an allergy free dog. The most important one is picking a dog that doesn't shed. So the poodles tend to be the most popular in this regard. Standard poodles if you like large dogs, miniature poodles if you like medium size dogs up to about fifteen inches, and toy poodles if you like little dogs. Also in that group of dogs that don't exacerbate human allergies are Bichon Frises, the little white, fluffy dogs, Maltese can be hypoallergenic, Shih Tzus and Lhasa Apsos. But just because your dog has short hair does not mean that he or she is going to be low on the allergy list. Dogs that have constantly growing hair coats tend to not shed as much and tend to not produce as much dander as other dogs and therefore they don't exacerbate human allergies."
