"Hi my name is Pam Nichols, I'm with utahanimalcare.com, Animal Care Center in Bountiful Utah. I'd like to talk to you today about whether or not you should breed your dog. Pet over population is a huge problem today. In Utah over more than sixty thousand dogs a year are put to sleep. And so before you decide to breed your dog, just so that your children can see the miracle of child birth, or so that your children can experience at one time. I'd like you to think about a couple of really important things. Dogs should only be bred to improve the breed, so if you have the perfect dog, either a perfect schnauzer or perfect golden retriever. In your opinion the temperament is perfect, your veterinarian tells you that the health of that dog is completely perfect, and those are the traits that you want to pass on, that's the first step in deciding whether to go ahead and breed your dog. But there are lot more steps that you have to take before you actually decide to breed your dog."
