Hi I'm Chris Behrens with Summerhays Music here in Salt Lake City. And we're going to name the parts of a trumpet. Now we might not go through all the parts in this clip, but we'll at least give you the basics. One of the biggest parts is your mouthpiece. The mouthpiece then goes into this part which is called the receiver. Then the next section is called the lead pipe, the lead pipe is what leads into the rest of the instrument, as far as the air goes. Then this part here is called the main tuning slide that can adjust in or out to adjust the tuning of course. The next biggest part of the trumpet is called the valve section. You have three valves, this one is your first valve, this one is your second, this one is your third valve. This is the second slide. The second slide is good if you need to empty your trumpet. And then this is the third valve tuning slide. There's also two water keys on the trumpet for draining excess water. One is located on the main tuning slide, and the other one is located on the first valve slide. Then after that you go to this giant piece here is called your bell. And those are the basic parts of a trumpet.
