"Hi, my name is Nate McCollough, on behalf of Expert Village. In the following clips, we're going to talk about some of the common failures with your power antenna, and how to remove and replace one. In this clip, we're going to talk about a couple of the possible failures that happen with your power antenna motor. And, what it sounds like when it happens. What we have here, as you can see, my power antenna is just totally stripped out and stuck. I'm going to have my partner, go ahead and step inside the passenger compartment and fire it up. Just turn on the electronics, so you can hear what a bad motor sounds like. I'm going to take my mike off, and get real close to it. As you can hear, the gears inside the motor are stripped out. It's going to continue and run that way for several, several, several seconds. You can notice that my antenna is going neither up nor down, and it's totally had. Now, it is possible for you to take the motor apart and replace the drive cable inside of it. However, for the additional labor, you would have involved in that, and to get half of a repair, I would suggest replacing the motor cable assembly. The parts difference is only about ten dollars, on most makes and models. This is one of the proper ways to diagnosis your motor failure, and a couple of the options when it comes to replacing it."
